Angela
Clark
Angela, co-director of Mala Yoga, continues to have an interactive relationship
with yoga. She discovered yoga in 1998 through her dance studies at Ohio
State University and knew immediately this was her life path. The physicality
of Hatha yoga first attracted Angela to the practice, but she quickly
discovered the internal facets such as breath, awareness, meditation,
and alignment were essential to her own development as practitioner, teacher,
and student. Angela continues to practice and study with Barbara Verrochi at The
Shala and Tias Little, with whom she is in the midst of another Teacher
Training with. She is also a beginning music student of Gulum Mohamed Kahn,
aka "Uncleji".
Marco
Jo Clate
Marco Jo is yoga teacher, theatre artist and new Mama! She flirted with
yoga through her studies of dance and theatre in college. As the intensity
of day to day survival as an artist in New York City bubbled up, Marco
Jo began to knit her artistic life with the eight-limbed yogic path. She
completed her teacher training at The Energy Center in Brooklyn in 2005,
studying with Joyce Cossett, Mary Flinn, and Frank Jude Bocchio. She continues
to study with her newest teacher, her son Jude! Marco Jo is a registered
yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and holds a BFA in theatre from New York
University.
Stephanie
Creaturo
Stephanie happily co-directs Mala Yoga with Angela and Christina. She
turned to yoga many years ago seeking relief from asthma and allergies
which emerged as an adult and sidelined her from her beloved running.
With consistent yoga practice, Stephanie’s symptoms disappeared
and a yoga mat edged out her running shoes for good. A passionate belief
in the practice, its benefits, and that everyone can “do”
yoga inspires her teaching and learning. Tias Little and Barbara Verrochi
keep Stephanie grounded in her own practice. Stephanie offers a deep bow
to her students, who remain her greatest teachers, and her husband, who
remains patient with her wacky schedule.
Christine Findlay
Christine came to yoga through years of back issues. As she created more balance in her body, she noticed how that balance and space
carried over into other parts of her life. She teaches a challenging class with emphasis on breath awareness. She strives to create an
environment where her students can go inward and discover the benefits of yoga. She has been teaching since 2004.
Christina
Hatgis
Christina, co-director of Mala Yoga, discovered Yoga in 1989 when she
was traveling in India and was introduced to the Bhagavad Gita and Indian
philosophy. Her asana practice began in earnest in 1996 and she returned
to India in 1998 to study intensively for eight months. Students enjoy
her relaxed, compassionate, and insightful teaching that has evolved from
extensive study of the Asthanga Vinyasa, Om Yoga, and Anusara Yoga traditions.
Thank you to Eddie Stern, Derek Ireland, Cyndi Lee, and Amy Ippoliti for
guiding, encouraging, and inspiring. She is most grateful to her children,
Julian and Marina, for providing the most beautiful, challenging, and
rewarding practice of all.
Tamara
Malkin-Stuart
Tamara brings a wealth of unique experiences to her teaching, which includes
growing up in Spain, studying ballet and a continued love of dance (especially
the tango), an appreciation of and career in the arts, and being a mom.
She turned to yoga as a way to alleviate pain from a horseback riding
accident. Inspired by the benefits of yoga, Tamara entered the teacher
training program at Yoga Works, eventually completing her 500-hour certificate
under the guidance of Jenny Aurthur, Jodie Rufty, and Rama Nina. She loves
living in Brooklyn and “can’t imagine my life without yoga!”
Claire
McCarty
Claire began practicing yoga eight years ago in an attempt to address
physical back and neck problems. It was especially appealing as a positive
way to deal with her physical challenges, and allowed her to be more in
control of her recovery. The physical benefits came steadily and Claire
began to deepen and increase her practice. A desire to know more about
yoga, the physical as well as the subtler mental benefits, led her to
complete yoga teacher training at The Energy Center in Brooklyn. She is
a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance and has been teaching since 2004.
Claire enjoys teaching and sharing her love of yoga, especially with new
students.
Tara Glazier
Tara Glazier (Anusara Certified) was introduced to yoga over 11 years ago. Tara graduated with honors from North Carolina
School of the Arts, where she studied the art and technique of Classical Ballet. She
went on to dance in affiliation with the Hartford Ballet while receiving her BFA in Ballet
Pedagogy and Dance Performance. Tara has been teaching yoga since 2001 in
and around New York City. She is committed to the method and the deep, therapeutic
teachings of Anusara Yoga. She has successfully received her full Anusara certification. Tara studies around
the globe with John Friend, the founder of Anusara, as well as other top Anusara teachers. With
reverence she honors all the teachers at Virayoga, John Friend, and philosophy teacher Douglas Brooks.
Tara’s class is challenging, yet detailed and invigorating. When Tara is not teaching yoga she is bringing
her love of dance to public school students at Ballet Tech, where she is the Artistic Director.

Garrison, NY (Charles and Lisa Matkin), and Piedmont Yoga of Oakland, CA (Rodney Yee). Julian is flattered to have the opportunity
to have taught for the last several years, but he will always consider himself a student of the practice. He teaches a motivational,
playful and uplifting class, with much attention to breathwork and alignment
Julie Dohrman

of yoga for over 10 years. Her classes are dynamic and progressive in sequencing,
and she presents clear instruction of Anusara's method and therapeutic application.
Julie teaches students of all levels,
from beginners to teachers, and creates a warmly fun, layered class that will challenge you physically
and encourage deep contemplation within. 7 years studying Tantra philosophy supports her teaching
and she weaves profound, yet practical insights throughout each unfolding class.
Julie teaches from her strong personal practice and life experiences, and commits to serve students with
the same awareness and generosity she has been offered from a community of great teachers.

to brighten her path of service. To learn more about Julie visit "www.shaktiyoga.com".
Sarah Johansson Locke
Sarah is endlessly inspired by yoga's invitation to deepen and empower our experience, both within the body and out in
the world. A teacher of yoga and dance, a performer, choreographer, and artistic director, she is devoted to sharing and
celebrating the transformative power of movement and the integration of body, mind, and spirit. She is certified as a teacher
of Embodied Anatomy and Yoga by the School for Body-Mind Centering, and has completed an Anusara teacher training at Vira Yoga.
A longtime student of Genny Kapuler in Iyengar yoga and Embodied Anatomy, she also holds a certificate in Kinesthetic Anatomy from
Irene Dowd, and has extensive modern and ethnic dance training. Sarah's love of teaching, her gratitude to her teachers, and her
commitment to her students is evident in her precise, informed, compassionate, and playfully challenging classes.
Olynda Spitzer
Olynda came to yoga after many years of studying dance and Capoeira. Being a spiritual seeker and a physical mover she was drawn
to yoga because of its ability to integrate the physical and the spiritual. She was moved to study Anusara in depth because of the
transformations she experienced through this clear and elegant system. Already a certified Hatha yoga teacher (since 2003), she completed
John Friend’s Teacher Training in 2005 and is currently a certified Anusara-inspired teacher actively working toward full Anusara certification.
Olynda creates a nurturing and empowering space for students to discover and celebrate their strength, wisdom and beauty. Her fluid teaching
style blends Tantric philosophy, precise physical alignment, and playfulness to inspire the ability to step beyond perceived limitations.
